The kids have gone back to school, the nights are getting darker and the summer has come to an end but that doesn’t mean the fun and activities in Bristol have come to an end for the year. In fact, in many ways, it’s the beginning of a new period of fun and events!
Christmas isn’t far away but before then, there are plenty of activities for Halloween, Guy Fawkes night and much more. Here are 5 events we have picked that take place from September to November, so book in to our B&B in Bristol and make the most of these fun days out for families!
Bristol Beer Week: 13-22 September
Bristol is home to some of the best (in our opinion) and celebrated small breweries. There are a number of events taking place during Bristol Beer week including an open day at Bristol Breweries* and a beer and music quiz hosted by writer Adrian Tierney-Jones at the Lost & Grounded Brewers.
If you like beer (and there are plenty of us that do!) then you will like Bristol Beer week.
Encounters Film Festival: 24-29 September
Bristol’s largest international film festival will have its 25th edition this September with a wide choice of films ranging from sci-fi and horror films to fun animation for the whole family.
You can see the calendar of events and films here: https://2019.encounters.film/films
Tokyo World: 21-22 September
This music event is located at Eastville Park in Bristol and will include 5 fields of music with over 100 music artists featuring over the weekend. Tickets are not available on the door and it’s advised to book early.
You can find out more on the Tokyo World website: https://www.tokyoworld.org
There will be plenty to do this Halloween. The Insane Root Theatre is hosting Rumpelstiltskin at John Wesley's Chapel (The New Room) from 4th October. This immersive story is told by candle-light and according to Visit Bristol**, it’s “is a spine-tingling take on this ancient folk tale of greed, imagination and the terrible choices we have to make.”.
Berkeley Castle is hosting ‘The Ghosts of Berkeley Castle’ until 30th October
And Arnos Vale Cemetery is expected to have plenty of, possibly scary, activities taking place!
The Festival of Light: From 9th November
The Festival of Light has been running for six years and is an amazing show to see. VisitBristol website gives a great summary of this amazing event:
“Hundreds of breathtaking, illuminated lanterns, set in over 30 acres of splendid ‘Capability Brown’ landscaped grounds, will transform the Estate as darkness falls. This year the extraordinary Festival of Light presents Myths and Legends.”
The Festival of Light takes place at Longleat.
Did we miss an event?

We will also be featuring more events for the autumn/winter period in our next blog post so remember to come back and check our website again later.
