The days are getting lighter - which means that Easter (and summer) isn’t far away. Whether it’s just you or with kids, here are some great ideas of things to do during the Easter holidays!
The Chocolate Train
Fancy something different to easter trails and bunnies? How about trains? From 10th - 13th April you can visit Avon Valley Railway and celebrate the return to steam of the old Fry's chocolate factory steam locomotive from Keynsham.
Easter Bear Hunt
If bunnies and trains aren’t for you or your kids, how about bears? The Wild Place Project (BS10 7TP) is hosting The Big Bear Sculpture Trail on 6th April, giving you the opportunity to discover and explore the grounds of The Wild Place Project - and for the kids to have fun!
The Children’s Scrapstore (BS2 9LB) is also hosting an Easter Crafting event on 6th April as well. Children will be able to make a range of Easter objects such as Easter baskets and bonnets.
There are plenty of music events taking place in April and over the Easter period - from Ben Nicky & Friends to ‘10 years of high focus records’. You can see a full listing by visiting Skiddle.
If you love spectacular views then the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge is worth visiting. It’s a great place to soak up the views, get some fresh air and go for a walk - and with the days getting longer you can visit later in the day!
There are also plenty of fabulous gardens and parks in Bristol that are amazing to visit.
Dragons and Face Painting
Dragons aren’t normally associated with Easter but they are known for being near castles which is where you should head to this Easter!
Visit Berkeley Castle for their themed Easter Dragons and Face Painting activities over the Easter weekend. According to Visit Bristol
‘Family and friends of all ages will be entertained and enthralled with fantastic dragon puppetry, getting face-to-face with a baby dragon, and taking part in the colourful Chinese Dragon Parade’.
Berkeley Castle is also hosting Warwick Warriors with experts showing off their sword fighting skills on 19th April.
Easter Egg Hunts
Easter wouldn’t be complete without an Easter Egg hunt (and lots of chocolate) so here are just a few locations to consider:
- The Gibbs Family Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt - April 6-22
- Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm Giant Easter egg hunt - April 6-27
- Wapping Wharf Easter trail - April 8-24
The harbourside is also hosting a range of activities focused on space, including a 2D opportunity to blast off and become a space explorer at We The Curious, where you can also explore the solar system in 2D and 3D!
Shopping and a lunch trip
Bristol has plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants to enjoy so if you are looking for a bit of retail therapy or a place to escape to for a leisurely lunch then why not visit Bristol and the fabulous harbourside and soak up the fabulous atmosphere.
