Bristol Hot Air Balloon Festival

Trying to keep the kids entertained for 6 weeks during the summer can sometimes be a challenge but if you are looking to spend a few days away then the Bristol Balloon festival (also known as the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta) is worth considering.
Visitors to Bristol can book a room at the Whitehouse Guestrooms and visit the festival for free. The event takes place over 4 days starting at midday on Thursday 8th August with Hot Air Balloons tethering and finishes at 8.30 pm on Sunday 11th August after the Mass Hot Air Balloon Lift.
According to Wikipedia*, up to 100 balloons have been launched at once during the event with teams from around the world attending with their hot air balloons to join in. The festival includes a range of activities such as model hot air balloon competitions, a nightglow and firework finale and a main stage with various events.

Getting to the Balloon Festival in Bristol
There are plenty of car parks in the area and according to the official website, directions are detailed on the tickets. There are also shuttle buses running from Temple Meads Train Station and the City Centre.
